Rose Foss:

My movieblog:

http://cinecism.blogspot.com

What sorts of films do I like? Well...

~Anything involving Robert Redford, Sergio Leone, Brad Pitt, Tony Scott, Kevin Spacey, Francis Ford Coppola, Joaquin Phoenix, Terry Gilliam, M. Night, Michael Caine, Tim Burton, or any combination of the above (Once Upon a Time in the West and Ed Wood need a mention)

~Any male-bonding movies containing gratuitous amounts of brown (FOTR, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, The Godfather.)

~Anything else paying a great deal of attention to the colour scheme – which if it isn’t brown, is preferably white (Eternal Sunshine, Memento).

~Anything my mother didn’t understand (Donnie Darko, Twelve Monkeys and Brazil).

~Anything containing great deals of coincidence (Moulin Rouge) or fate (Signs) or with a mysticaly undertone (O Brother Where Art Thou).

~Anything with a totally fab soundtrack (Lost Boys, Shaun of the Dead, School of Rock).

~Any ideal heroes (Faramir!), perfect villains (Michael!), goodies with a dark side, baddies with a good heart, anyone who feels bad about anything and the whole cast of L.A. Confidential, who all blissfully linger in the grey area.

~Anything with an absolutely staggering ending, resulting in a) the deaths of 2+ of the cast or b) one hellofa major betrayal between friends (insert spoiler-free examples here).

~Anything that makes me cry, for any reason (Constantine and Reign of Fire are the notable culprits).

~And Zulu. Which really doesn’t fit into any category at all – Brave Brits, singing Welshmen, insurmountable odds and lots of stiff upper lip, what’s not to like?

~And anything else well made and wuvvy

~OMG! I forgot to mention Claude Chabrol, Alfred Hitchcock, Orson Welles, Warner Herzog, D.W. Griffith, Fritz Lang, Fellini, Truffaut Renoir and a whole lotta other guys with jolly famous names. I am, of course, entirely dedicated to their work…Anything foreign, famous or highbrow I haven't actually seen :P

Films just off the list:
Rififi
Apocalypse Now
Run, Lola, Run
Legend of 1900
Freebie and the Bean

Bonjour emily, I did as you said and thus realised how appalling my movie taste looks.

I normally can't bear rewatching films too often - School of Rock's the only one I could watch every day of my life...

The school of rock is great. "Red between the lines man, read between the lines!"
