Thanks John: O Lucky Man would be in my top 20 if I could have listed the three Apu films of the trilogy as one.

I fancy seeing O Lucky Man again (a long time ago, now); i enjoyed it and Anderson made some quite challenging social comment at the time.

" a great Canadian critic" indeed!

Neither will I. It remains among my favorites more for sentimental reasons than anything else, but I still consider it to be a very good film, with great performances. No, I have not seen "Leolo". My film-watching experience has been rather uneven; many classics have gone unseen as well as many great directors' work. As for "Wonder Boys", it took awhile for it to grow on me. Initially I just considered it a good, entertaining film, but the more times I saw it, the more resonance it had and the more perfect it seemed... as long as one is liberal enough to tolarate its particular sensibility.

R.A. Thanks. Ordinary people is one of my all time favorites and one I will never get tired of.

It's interesting to find "Ordinary People" within this bunch. Striking list.

Mice that you put "my dinner with Andre there". Malle's movie about a dinner is truly amazing; i was thinking myself of putting it there, but I 'fell' for more mainstream-popcorn movies (well not completely). For the rest a great list
