What do you like about gone with the wind so much? Its honestly bored me stiff. The godfather is a great film and Casablanca is cool but overrated. I saw lost in trans recently and that was good, but I did feel bored at times. I feel the rewatches of that will enhance the experience though.

Do you think I'll like Maboroshi if I liked Nobody Knows but not After Life? I mean, I haven't even finished After Life yet (I might soon) but what I saw was kinda meh.

Ah Maborosi and the Dekalog. I like some of your classic loves as well, particularly 3, 4, and 13.

I never said you did Ryan. We agree to disagree on what Ebert said. Done.

I like your writing on "What does cinema mean to me?" I love it when people can express themselves in a way like that: very personal, off-the-cuff, but also with a sense of clarity. You've put alot of work into your user statement, and it shows.

Those are my favorite 20 films of all time roughly.
And itsnot snobs who like them (snobs to not actually like movies). Most people who like a certain type of serious, spritual film (like me) usually have similar lists and tastes. That is why among us, certain great films like Rublev, Balthazar, Ordet etc keep reappearing on out top lists. Most of the films on my top 20 move me to near tears, as do allot of other films which I did not have space to include. For lesser known films which are among my favorites see this list: http://www.ymdb.com/m/l30901_ukuk.html

Jon Stewart said at the Oscar last year after showing all the important movie clips from Civil Rights to Gay Rights to political exposé, "yeah, movies solved all these problems and we never had to deal with them again". I don't know, I guess, I've just grown old, jaded and cynical. Don't take me seriously.

Very classy list. Read your user statement too. Good stuff, although I wouldn't give movies as much credit as Ebert does; "can make us into better people".
Just saw Casino Royal today. Great. I have a weak spot for well made action movies too. You rate it pretty high in your scoreboard. You liked it that much? It was so different than usual 007 movies. Without the cheesy Bond music, you wouldn't believe it is a Bond movie. It was more of a character study. And Bare-knuckled action flick that has no tidy ending. Her majesty's secret service has many flaws. I wonder what'll become of the franchise? Daniel Craig was great.

Nice statemant man. A great actor you should check out is Tatsuya Nakadai.

Classics like Gone With the Wind, The Godfather, Casablanca, and Rear Window mixed with Wong Kar Wai and other experimental films? Very interesting.

I made the mistake of watching Accepted with Parris. One of the worst movies I've seen ever.
