Have you seen Mister Lonely yet?

Also, what do you think of those nice mumblecore films coming out?

Heh, I wanted to see if my favorite scene from Boarding Gate was on Youtube, and to my surprise it was! Then I realized it came from you and it made more sense. Nice work. Good film, though the second half/last third was very good - sometimes great no doubt.

This was my first Assayas film too. Not sure if that was a good move.

Glad to see Babel back on your list. Have you seen Mister Lonely yet?

Hey their, very nice list indeed. Haha yea Seven Samurai is unbeatable for me in it's fantasy stakes. It makes me feel like i'm a hero for like 3 1/2 hours, then it ends and i realise i'm just an idiot sitting on my bed with a bowl of cereal and an ashtray full of cigarette butts. Guilty pleasure, but it works.

You have some interesting choices too, i've yet to see Morvern Callar, but i thought Ratcatcher was astoundingly beautiful, and good to see Babel and Bad timing in the list, two films I feel are unjustly neglected these days (although, like you pointed out with you favouring Sex and Lucia, I have to say, between Bad Timing and The Man Who Fell to Earth, I find I have to opt for the latter).

Nice changes. Like seeing 2046 and Code 46 back on the list. Why'd Happy Together fall all the way off? Are you doing a 'one per director' thing?

nice list , welcome to YMDB , U dick lol

Very nice. Check out Gods of the Plague if you enjoyed Colder than Death so much! It is Fassbinder's "sequel" to the latter. The two films have very similar styles, so I think you might rate it highly. Enjoy!

p.s. I am fascinated that you have Fassbinder on your list of directors! What films of his have you seen?

Did you see Kar-Wai's My Blueberry Nights yet? I know you respect him so, if you had, I was wondering if I could get some thoughts.

Peace and love.

how did you ever see Dog Run (1996)?

There's more talking in it for one thing. I did say "modern Ozu" but it is more like if Haneke filmed a Hong Sang-Soo script, I guess. More than anything, it just really hit a personal cord and sort of proposed a lot of life-related questions that I've pondered recently. There's a line in the film along the lines of "I just didn't want things to change" which unintentionally reflects the films as a whole, people uncomfortable (but still worried) about making certain life changes that are accepted as being normal. I guess it could be said that its a 20somethings trying to find themselves type of a film, but it that would be oversimplifying things and undermining the depth to which the subjects are handled. Also, it doesn't come close to coming off as wish fulfillment like perhaps The Wayward Cloud or The Beekeeper could. It is rather observational without any real clear type of cinematic climax: the same sort of anti-drama that I love in the films of Ozu (and Naruse) but just updated to the present.

I will have be sure to check out the forum. The site has definitely slowed down a little, but at least I experienced it in it's glory days. It's at least good to see that people are still discussing good films and the people who truly care about them are still here.

Morvern Callar is a modern masterpiece. L'Eclisse is also very good and so is gummo. Have you seen Mister Lonely yet?

I really need to see Trouble Everyday, 9 Songs, Sans Soliel, and I fidnanzati based on what you said about it. It's also awesome to see La Luna on anybody's list.

Have you seen Regaydas' Silent Light yet? It's easily the best film of the year, decade maybe?

Hello Jake. Belly of an Architect does of course contain some of the usual pompous Greenaway elements, but is more emotional complex than the others whick often only deals with a good/evil conflict. Sans soleil is probably the most existensial and trippy movie I have ever seen. Im really looking forward to see Sherman's March. Actually just ordered it. And I have to recommand the films of Alexander Kluge. Ecspesially The Power of Emotion and Willi Tobler and the Destruction of the 6th Fleet

i stand firm in my love for The Blair Witch Project, but did remove it in order to add One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Blair Witch Project just is amazingly enjoyable and well acted, to the extent that people were UPSET to find out it was fake. this movie was so believable it had the ability to at least convince people for a short while that it was real. i just really like it a lot.

A couple viewings ago, I had to force myself to finish Two or Three Things I Know About Her; after that it began making a much better impression on me. I don't think Five Easy Pieces will be on this list long. Mother and Son definitely belongs ahead of that. Other than that and L'Eclisse, I've seen only #s 2 and 3 on your list!

That is indeed my real list. I don’t really know enough about this site yet to be making “meta-jokes on YMDb snob taste” or whatever. Anyways, your list is really great too. I haven’t seen Husbands or 9 Songs, but pretty much everything else on here is amazing.
