Watch Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens, so you can fill up the 1922-space ;)

Interesting list. Not seen a lot of those on your list, but heard a lot about them. F For Fake and Les 400 coups is films I've wanted to seen for a long time.

Very nice list. Bara no soretsu is awesome, but I think A Clockwork Orange is better. La Planete sauvage is very interesting animation, gotta see it. Tokyo monogatari is awesome.

Tokyo Drifter and Bird people of China are great choices.

i hate "crash". it's mindnumbingly dull, simplifying and pathetic, it might be "technically accomplished" but aesthetically it's just totally meaningless. the ongoing comparisons to "babel" really annoy me. all your criticisms of "babel" perfectly apply to "crash" in my opinion.
you see, i had discussions on the imdb boards with people who claimed "babel" is the same movie as "crash" is and it really wears me out to be honest. honestly, someone who thinks that has either no idea of cinema at all (i don't think you belong to this group) or lacks any sort of emotional understanding. your derogative use of the word "liberal" also reminds me of the imdb polemics. it's the stupidest sort of labelling i can think of these days. some kind of second paranoid maccarthy era. please get it together americans (if you are one).
i'm sure i will watch "la dolce vita" some day again and maybe i'll change my mind about fellini. but as for now, every single part of innaritu trilogy is miles ahead of the two fellinis i have seen.

my problem with "la dolce vita" (as with "8 1/2") is that it's three hours redundant drivel (filled with symbolic imagery) about decadent disgusting and boring people. it lacks any kind of emotional level, it feels completely sterile. maybe that's how the main protagonists feel, but in the end, fellini to me seems like the typical film school graduate, his movies are technically (and at times aesthetically) great but totally lack heart and emotion. they are dead to me.
i have only seen these two, so i will definately check out some other fellinis, but i'm not really looking forward to it.
concerning "babel" i'd like to here what you think is "emotionally reductionist" about it. if you think there's a "political" message you missed the point. why you would consider any of this drivel is really beyond me. innaritu showed that he's a keen observer of human nature, the movie is full of honesty and compassion. it's about humans and their weaknesses and it's incredibly precise in depicting it, so what about this could be "drivel"?
i like "2001", "blue velvet", "brazil" (message beating anyone?) and "rushmore" and love "eternal sunshine", "chungking express" "lost highway" and "lost in translation".

alphaville wasn't my favorite, but lots of other godard is good if you search for it. My favorites include Breathless, Woman is a Woman, Le Petit Soldat, Pierrot le Fou, and vivre sa vie.

Fucking awesome top 6, all of them are in the running for my top list, with the exception of Brazil, which I still love. The Third Man blew my mind.

This is probably the most opposite list to mine that I have seen If you check out my list, I think that you will be horrified! At least we agree that Fightclub was crap.
I do like Vertigo, North by Northwest, Chinatown and Ghostbusters from your best of years.

I forgot to say this: Ever since I saw it on the big screen...it became one of my favorite movies.

Now I'll definitely check out Rainy Dog. Miike is really prolific. I have the Artificial Eye version of Double Life of Veronique(it came out on dvd last year). I just couldn't wait for the Criterion. Ever since I saw it on the big screen in 91. I went back to see it three times. Certainly one of the most beautiful movies ever made. Criterion always does a movie justice so I would say yeah for you to get it.
