Before the list dumping and before the URL change, I managed to persuade three different friends of mine to make YMDb lists. I actually had to pay one of them. After the dumping these lists were all lost and so was mine. If my list was deleted because I didn't connect in the last year, then that's not really fair. I love this site, but the URL changed and I thought the site was dead.

The top list states that the users are "mainly male, English speaking and under 35". If lists are going to be deleted because users don't log in then the list will just continue to reflect only the opinions of the sorts of people who are obsessed with this site. None of my friends who I persuaded to make lists, who were all female, can be bothered to come back.

I imagine that the main reason why people would vote for the lists to be deleted would be because they don't like what's in the top movie list...but they aren't supposed to, because the movies will reflect a variety of different tastes: Eternal Sunshine and Jackie Brown are hardly the same movie.

I am always trying to persuade people to join YMDb, but after discovering that the list dumping was deliberate (I previously thought it wasn't), I'm not sure if there is much point.

So only French people are real people?
Funny.

Hey Sean

Look, the reason polls exist is to avoid sensless arguing. Now I would like to have the lists ereased because I would like to start a whole new ymdb, you don't. But hey: who cares! Because we all voted, that is 916 people, and decided. So it's only correct to apply what's been decided (you're right about the initial misleading formulation though...). Anyway, don't f,uck me, it's just an obvious mistake the admin did.

Peace.

It's the fine the way it is now. The top list didn't improve any though...

f,uck you david. why you got to try and screw up something good. the poll is misleading anyways. the options were editied half way through so a lot of those "Yes"s wouldn't have been "Yes" if they knew what it meant. i say reset the poll or leave the site alone. seriously though, why the f'uck do you (or anyone) want to reset that stupid joke of a list anyways?

Look what I found out:
The french poll's winning option is "Dump only lists of members..." (hit the français button at the bottom right to go there). There are only 91 participants in the french poll...

Dear Admin: please choose the option that has been voted for by the larger part of the users, that is the english one, and delete all the lists!

"Looks like they went with the "Dump only lists of members that didn't connect this year" option. "
Exactly.

My affinities have changes as well. Apparently those that haven't written a commentary (in the last year or so) have been deleted.

glad not too many lists were deleted. not much change in that silly top movie list obviously. i still can't tell if any comments from the movie pages are missing...

Looks like they went with the "Dump only lists of members that didn't connect this year" option.
