Kate Wheeler:

I didn't mention any Peter Jackson movie because it would be too hard for me to name a favourite, he's been my cinematic hero for the last 10 years.

Other favourites, in random order (gee, 20 is too little for a cinema freak):

Dogma
Galaxy Quest
Truly Madly Deeply (yes, I'm a fan of Alan Rickman, he's made some awesome movies)
Frailty
The Goonies
Zoolander
K-Pax
Family Addams' Values
Monsters & Co
Bridget Jones Diary
Closer
Donnie Darko
Requiem For a Dream
Pulp Fiction
American Psycho
Sleepy Hollow
Leon
The Ring
Labyrinth
Keeping the Faith
The Royal Tenenbaums
Rushmore
The Life Aquatic
The Anniversary Party
Possession
Cypher

Any woman named Kate Wheeler must be hot looking. Ditto any woman named Leyla. It's like their parents just knew their daughters would turn out hot and so gave them hot names. It's nice the way things work, isn't it?

I never did see the Passion of Darkly Noon, but the Reflecting Skin is one that I go back to at least once a year.

Twleve Monkeys and Zero Effect, good call.

1, 3, 5, and 12 are great.

18 is quite good.

Don't care too much for 9.

There we go... I just came across a list that had a bunch of crime-drama films from the 90s and no LA Confidential. Very nice to see it at #1 here

Nice list indeed. Equilibrium and Secretary are both awesome movies that we don't see that much on lists. The only thing I didn't like is your #1! Great choices anyway!

Hey now. Nice list yourself. You gave me some good ideas of movies to see, thanks. I have to update my list a little bit sometime soon, but it seems we do have similar taste. Good stuff.

I also have a soft spot for Bad Taste and the Frighteners

some great choices, just watched equilibrium yesterday (second time), loved sin city (why can't all comic book conversions be that good)

Olla! A good cross-section of some of the more interesting films from the past decade of American cinema... and it's nice to come across an oddball - though understandable - pick like The Passion of Darkly Noon on someone's list!

Nice listing! I tend to be fussy with the odd film, but I cant find one that I dont appreciate.

Welcome, many great movies here.

Well i hope your research is interesting, and something on my list takes your fancy. Of course some (slow, arty, or unusual) will be more risky to try than others. But i'm confident most people would very much like Sansho the Bailiff. Sunrise is a much-loved silent masterpiece, La Regle du Jeu has often come 2nd to Citizen Kane in critics' polls, Seven Samurai is a big popular adventure of course, Tokyo Story a film of quiet wisdom, Pather Panchali the most widely admired Indian classic. The rest; well you'll know better than me what's most likely to appeal to you.

Some unconventional choices on your list.I really liked Secretary though many people dismiss it as just another kinky movie.

I really like Twelve Monkeys, Edward Scissorhands and Reservoir dogs.
The Piano is pretty good and I love L.A. confidential.
I haven't seen the other movies
