Systematicer [prestige]:

"How could we possibly appreciate the Mona Lisa if Leonardo had written at the bottom of the canvas: 'The lady is smiling because she is hiding a secret from her lover.' This would shackle the viewer to reality, and I don't want this to happen to 2001."
- Stanley Kubrick

"A film is its own thing and in an ideal world I think a film should be discovered knowing nothing and nothing should be added to it and nothing should be subtracted from it. "
- David Lynch

"I want to give the audience a hint of a scene. No more than that. Give them too much and they won't contribute anything themselves. Give them just a suggestion and you get them working with you. That's what gives the theater meaning: when it becomes a social act."
- Orson Welles

"My movies are body conscious. The first fact of human existence is the human body. If you get away from physical reality, you're fudging, in fantasy-land-not coming to grips with what violence does."
- David Cronenberg

"But can I tell the genuine-article Italian from the poseur Italian? No. To me they all seem like poseurs."
- Quentin Tarantino

"Drama is life with the dull bits left out."
- Alfred Hitchcock

"Every decent director has only one subject, and finally only makes the same film over and over again. My subject is the exploitability of feelings, whoever might be the one exploiting them. It never ends. It's a permanent theme. Whether the state exploits patriotism, or whether in a couple relationship, one partner destroys the other."
- Rainer Werner Fassbinder

"Cinema is a matter of what's in the frame and what's out."
- Martin Scorsese

"Hollywood is the only industry, even taking in soup companies, which does not have laboratories for the purpose of experimentation."
- Orson Welles

Yeah, Marilyn's FAKE mole. Think about it.

lol
Good point.

Mhm, but that's only my prestige list that rocks. All the others suck.

?
Who said that?
Let them show their faces so I may cut out their eyes!

Just that this has nothing to do with the quote. I think "nothing should be added to it and nothing should be subtracted from it" is referring to abstract things. Like knowledge, ideas,...

...

Perhaps...but it certainly applies.

cool.

Prestige list rocks, by the by...except Dogville.

But hey, its kinda like the perfect flaw...Marilyn Monroe's mole.

No, actually I don't know.

Well, they keep changing their films. In order to get an original cut of the original star wars you gotta get it on a special disc, and even then its only a special feature.
The Lynch quote kinda speaks to that...

...YOU KNOW?

God, I wish Lynch would talk to George-fucking-Lucas and Seven-fucking-Spielberg.

Maybe give 'em a smack upside da head, you know?

I see you love Citizen Kane. May I recommend that you watch Behind the Green Door, it has been compared to Citizen Kane by brilliant film makers such as Stuart Gordon.
