I worked on this list for hours before I realized that there's no way to squeeze 50 favorites into 20 slots. I'm tortured by the films I had to leave out.

Good list, check out mine.

That is a very vulgar list.
The range in quality is enourmous and mostly are nothing but entertainment. I have noticed that you gave merit to "Dark City" over "Matrix".

It took you hours to realize you can't fit 50 movies in 20 slots? What a waste! I could only imagine what a waste might have been to watch some of them.

Whoever would begrudge "Moulin Rouge" hasn't the capacity to be swept away by pure movie magic. This is a powerful list, and lemme just say that you're one of the most insightful, reliable, down-to-earth, and entertaining critics on Hollywood Bitchslap/efilmcritic (you, Childress, and Collin Souter), so it endears me even more to you to see the marvelous "Young Frankenstein" in your #1 spot, with "The Princess Bride", "MR", "Airplane!", "Jaws" and so many classic others below it. I would marry you if California wasn't so puritanical about that sort of thing

Thanks, Kurt & Chris.

I don't think I can say I hate any of these films. Great list.

Sorry guys! MR stays. I know it's an odd choice, but I love the crazy thing.

aye would be a better list minus Moulin Rouge!

Thanks guys. I'll be sure to check out your lists and tell you where you're right and where you're insane. ;)

Nice list. Young Frankenstien or Blazing Saddles, that was my conundrum.

It's good to see Dark City and Brazil up there, as well as the coen's.

Kick ass list

Great choices with Young Frankenstein, Jaws, The Thing, Halloween, and Fight Club. However, last time I saw Alien I was quite disappointing, having loved it the first time I saw it. While technically well made, it was very dull.

Good, American movies. Special note for Brazil.
