Great choice at #1. Given that you seem to appreciate Renoir, have you seen "French Cancan"? Completely kicks #20's butt. Nice list...

Where's "French Kiss"??? What kind of foreign movie list is complete without a good ol' American-in-Paris romantic comedy gone wrong?

I was actually planning to go see Le Cercle Rouge this weekend, as it's playing in a theatre around here. However, looks like I'm not gonna get to it. I'll check it out on the inevitable Criterion release after this theatrical run. Too bad, though; I really enjoyed the Melville films I've seen (Bob & Le samourai).

I like this list although I'm definitely not a big fan of Moulin Rouge. And Bob le Flambeur was fine but didn't really impress me. However, Blue, 8 1/2, FotR, Andrei Rublev and most of the others are good picks.

Great list. All those on it that I've seen (about half) are great.

I'm terribly sorry but I don't think I've seen more than 20% of your top flicks. You'll have to share them with me sometime........

Wonderful list. You have certainly been taking advantage of living in New York, eh? These movies just don't play here in Vegas... wonder why...

Wow, Lester -- I've seen a whole THREE of these movies. I guess I'm not very cultured. CW
